Background

Kahlil Philander is an Associate Professor (Tenured) at Washington State University's Carson College of Business, in the School of Hospitality Business Management. His research focuses on public policy and consumer behavior in gambling, including casinos, sports betting, online gaming, and crypto.

Before his current role, he served as the Director of Research at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas' International Gaming Institute — one of the world's foremost centers for gaming scholarship. He has also held an appointment as Honorary Lecturer at the University of Sydney, School of Psychology.

Beyond academia, Kahlil brings direct industry experience as the former Director of Social Responsibility at the British Columbia Lottery Corporation and Senior Policy Researcher at the Responsible Gambling Council of Canada.
